Kevin's 911 Carrera 4S

REDMOND, WA - It’s grey and overcast. It already rained… it might rain again. and here I am with a car painted in Graphite Blue Metallic, which is basically… grey. Except this is the PNW and we love our fall colors and the perfect soft box lighting our clouds provide! Kevin was kind enough to let me borrow his Carrera 4S to explore Redmond, WA for an afternoon. Most people only think of Microsoft when they hear Redmond; it’s true that the area is full of software campuses and new developments. However, Redmond is also not far from the foothills of the Cascade Mountains and city planning took great care to maintain the old-grove wooded feel of the region.
Some rain drops and even cloud cover brought out the subtle colors in a seemingly plain paint. The trend of automakers offering more solid colors rather than mostly metallic lineups has grown on me lately, and I have a warm and fuzzy place in my heart for this cool grey. As far as driving experience for my afternoon jaunt: what can I say, it’s a Porsche. I do love the GT2/3 models with their aggressive feel and styling, but in the world of new asphalt and rushing between campuses for meetings, the 4S trim has fun while still looking business formal. And for those weekend forest cruises, there are plenty of switches and options to transform this respectable coupe into a loud and angry H-6 monster.
