Atomic Purple

Baton Rouge, LA - I was born in the 80’s but I grew up a 90’s kid. My first console was a used NES my dad brought home one day from a garage sale. It came with a small pack of about a dozen games, that kept me busy for hours and every weekend. A few years later I got my first mobile console: a new Game Boy Color and Pokemon - Blue Version. Ever since then, I’ve had a love for challenging puzzles and great stories in all game platforms. I was admittedly late to hop on the Nintendo Switch wagon though; not having owned a game console for half a decade after college. And yes, I was one of those people searching for a Switch from the safety of my home during the early months COVID-19 quarantine last year.
Finding a Switch was honestly amazing. It helped pass the time and kept me connected with my family across the country. And when I discovered the Atomic Purple aftermarket shells made by eXtremeRate, the nostalgia of all the hours of my childhood spent on that Game Boy Color came flooding back. Admittedly, the color is a bit lighter than the original Atomic purple I remember, but the fit and material quality of this product is excellent and not far off the OEM despite being a different material.
As many have stated online, the installation requires plenty of patience and steady hands. However none of the process is terribly difficult, and the kit provided by eXtremeRate includes all the basic tools necessary for the mod. A friend and I were able to swap two Switches in about 3 hours with minimal difficulty.
