Olympus Rally 2019
SHELTON, WA - Last year, was my first time going to Olympus Rally and I was hooked on the location. The mountains and trees provide a spectacular backdrop for spectators. My favorite part of the environment is the rich red soil from thousands of generations worth of trees makes for a heavy dust with plenty of color and dimension.
This particular event was special for me as a rally fan. Since grade school, I’ve watched WRC and my favorite was always Petter Solberg and his Subaru team. I loved watching him chase (and surpass) the stage times Sebastian Loeb had put down. every victory was more spectacular knowing just how hard-fought it had been. This year at Olympus Rally; eleven years after Subaru withdrew from the WRC, Petter’s son Oliver Solberg won in a WRX STI that wore a livery matching Petter’s car from 2008. Oliver is an incredible driver, and I was so excited to watch the passion for rally be passed to a new generation.
