Jeremy's Evo9 MR

SEATTLE, WA - Away with the old in with the new. That’s how i met Jeremy originally; while selling off parts of my old Mazda3 commuter turned stancypants-slow-mobile to sketching people on Craigslist. Who knew that when he invited me to join new local club for a cruise to Mt. Rainier, we’d still be hanging out doing bigger and better car things over 5 years later. Long story short, we hit it off over Mazdas, Magic the Gathering, and discovering that our significant others were carbon copies of one another. Last year the four of us even met up in Tokyo for a week long roadtrip where we took a Mazda5 over 1100km through Saitama, Nagano, and Gunma Prefectures. It was on this trip that we both discovered our current automotive affairs.

One of our stops on this road trip was at the legendary Hakone Turnpike where we rented a Tommi Makinen Evo 6 and an old widebody AP1 that was probably someone’s old time attack car before it ended up as a rental. Months after we all returned to Seattle, I called Jeremy thinking I’d surprise him with the completely stock AP2 I’d found recently. The joke was on me when he showed up in his cleanly modified Lancer Evolution 9 MR. The rally inspired sedan is relatively subtle in all black, with only slight exterior modifications: Rally Armor mud flaps, a carbon fiber OEM replacement spoiler and the shorter European rear bumper. What isn’t visible are the full exhaust, skid plates, electronically controlled suspension, heavy duty clutch/flywheel, and plenty of engine goodies thanks to English Racing in Camas, WA.
